Schalke 04 attacking midfielder Leroy Sane is relishing testing himself against the might of BVB Dortmund in next Sunday's Ruhr derby.
The 19-year-old is fast making a name for himself in the Bundesliga as he currently tops the club's goal-scoring charts with five goals in all competitions, while he also three assists to his name.
Sane was at it again on Saturday afternoon, popping up in the 77th minute to secure a share of the spoils for his side in a 1-1 draw with FC Ingolstadt at Veltins-Arena in Gelsenkirchen.
When asked why his side were only able to secure a point from their clash with FC Ingolstadt, Sane told the Bundesliga's website: "We struggled in the first half, even though we did create a few chances.
"We lacked that extra will to win every tackle and go after the goals.
"We didn't underestimate Ingolstadt. We knew before the game that they are a very strong team.
"We were fully concentrated, but somehow it still just didn't click. We did a lot better in the second half, though."
Looking ahead to the Ruhr Derby, where Schalke 04 will take on BVB Dortmund, he added: "I'm a bit nervous, but I'm obviously really looking forward to the game.
"It's one of the most important games of the season. And I am really fired up for the derby atmosphere!
"Every player is fired up, everyone wants to win at all costs. We have to compete from the start and then take our chances. Then we'll start playing better in general and winning games again."
