Athletic Bilbao eased past Betis 1-3 while Eibar earned a narrow 1-0 win over Vallecano in Sunday's La Liga action.
Inaki Williams would score twice for the vistors as Athletic Bilboa powered to a comfortable win at Betis.
Williams opened the scoring in the eighth minute and he added another on the stroke of half-time. Betis' Ruben Castro would give the home side hope when he converted from the penalty spot, but Raul Garcia took the game away with his 87th-minute strike.
Eibar's Diego Llorente conceded an unfortunate own goal against Vallecano when he tried to clear a cross, only to send the ball under his own crossbar.
Saul Berjon nearly equalised for the hosts in the second half when his superb effort came off the post. Vallecano would hold on for the win.
Espnanyol have Felipe Caicedo to thank for his 94th minute equaliser against Granada. Earlier, Jean-Sylvain Babin latched on to a cross from Piti to give the victors the lead. But Caicedo was in the right place at the right time as he fired home from close range after a rebound fell at his feet.
Gijon were much better than the 1-0 win over Malaga suggests, as they created no less than six realistic opportunities. Alen Halilovic showed great composure inside the box to score for the home side in the 27th minute, while he would hit the crossbar with a bullet shot in the second half.
The midfielder had a third opportunity in the dying embers of the game, but Malaga stopper Idriss Carlos Kameni pulled off a superb save to deny Halilovic.
