There was a big upset in the Dutch Eredivisie on Friday night as relegation-threatened Twente beat top-four side Heracles 4-0 in front of a rapturous home crowd.
Manager Rene Hake’s men looked none the worse for the wear after returning from the winter break, with midfielder Chinedu Ede opening their account in only the 16th minute.
Heracles keeper Bram Castro failed to deal with a Hakim Ziyech shot effectively, allowing Edu to slot the rebound into the back of the net.
It was 2-0 after 30 minutes, with Ziyech this time producing a fine solo effort, beating three defenders to double his side’s lead.
There was to be no comeback from Heracles after the break.
Instead, Ede made it 3-0 on the hour mark after latching onto a cross from captain Felipe Gutierrez, with Hidde Ter Avest adding a fourth just a couple of minutes later to complete the rout.
