Japan goalkeeper Eiji Kawashima is set to join Dundee United, subject to a work permit.
The 72-cap keeper has been without a club since being released by Standard Liege in the summer, and with United in need of some experience between the sticks, they have moved to secure the services of the 32-year-old.
Kawashima will battle with youngsters Michal Szromnik (22) and Luis Zwick (21) for the starting berth.
It is not expected that United will be able to secure a work permit in time for Kawashima to feature against Aberdeen on Saturday
Kawashima was in attendance for the for last weekend's fixture at Tannadice when United defeated Ross County 1-0.
