Borussia MG defender Tony Jantschke will be sidelined for the next three months after undergoing knee surgery.
Jantschke partially tore his anterior cruciate ligament during his side’s 5-0 loss to Leverkusen in the Bundesliga on Saturday.
The 25-year-old, who has represented Monchengladbach in 12 games in all competitions this season, went under the knife in Cologne on Tuesday and is now expected to make his comeback in March.
Jantschke’s injury is a major blow for Gladbach, who currently sit in fifth place on the Bundesliga standings with 26 points.
Gladbach’s DFB-Pokal campaign came to an end on Tuesday as they were beaten 4-3 by Bremen and they will now look to bounce back when they face Darmstadt in the Bundesliga on Sunday.
