Newcastle United midfielder Jack Colback believes his team deserve credit for the recent wins that have steadied the ship at St James' Park.
The Magpies looked set for another relegation battle this season after starting their campaign with five defeats and no wins from their first eight games, leaving them in the drop zone early on.
But Steve McClaren's side recorded back-to-back victories over Liverpool and Spurs in recent weeks to restore confidence after heavy defeats to Leicester City and Crystal Palace last month.
"You've got to take the good with the bad," the 26-year-old Tyneside native told The Northern Echo. "When you lose games in this league, you're there to be shot at.
"You've got to take that on the chin and react, and I think that's the biggest thing – we've shown a reaction. I think back-to-back wins at any stage is really important.
"You play against good teams, and Leicester are a good team. They've done that to other teams this season. We didn't defend well against Palace, and got punished, but they are also a good team.
"When you lose, especially at Newcastle, everyone seems to jump on it. Like I said, you've got to deal with that as a player, and it's about the reaction. We've got to take that on the chin.
"As a team we have to stick together. It'll be interesting how much Press we get this week. It'll just be interesting to see how many ex-players and pundits give a comment this week about the performance at Tottenham.
"We've got another home game now that we have to focus on against [Aston Villa on Saturday]. We can't take the game lightly. Every game is difficult in this league."
