There were no real upsets in Thursday's round of Copa del Rey action as Atletico Madrid, Celta de Vigo, Villarreal and Granada all went through to the round of 16.
Atletico Madrid continued their winning streak with a 1-0 victory over third-tier side Reus Deportiu at Estadio Vicente Calderon. Los Rojiblancos started the game with a 2-1 aggregate lead from the first leg, and wrapped up the win when Ghanaian midfielder Thomas Partey struck in the 53rd minute to send Atleti through with a 3-1 win on aggregate.
Celta de Vigo are through to the next round after recording a 1-0 win over Almería at Estadio de Balaídos. Danish midfielder Daniel Wass scored in 41st minute to bump the aggregate score up to 4-1 in favour of the hosts.
Goals from Manu Trigueros and Roberto Soldado saw Villarreal record a 2-0 win over Huesca at Camp El Madrigal. The Yellow Submarine started the game from 3-2 down after suffering defeat in the first leg before Trigueros equalised on aggregate in the first half. Soldado then missed a 64th-minute penalty but made amends with a goal after 78 minutes to seal a 4-3 aggregate victory.
Granada needed the away-goals rule to progress after recording a 1-0 victory over Leganés at Estadio Nuevo Los Cármenes. Granada lost the first leg 2-1 and needed to wait until the 68th minute for Youssef El-Arabi to bring the aggregate scores level at 2-2, and send the Liga side through.
