Away wins for Leverkusen, Augsburg

FC Augsburg and Leverkusen both secured valuable away victories in Saturday's Bundesliga action from Germany.

A solitary goal proved enough as Leverkusen beat FC Ingolstadt 1-0 at Audi Sportpark, with Javier 'Chicharito' Hernandez doing the damage in the 73rd minute after latching onto a pass inside the box and firing a quickly-taken shot past the goalkeeper and into the left side.

The result sees Leverkusen move up into fourth place on the table.

Over at the Volksparkstadion, home side Hamburger SV fell to a 1-0 defeat against FC Augsburg, as substitute Jan Moravek delivered the killing blow in the 76th minute, just six minutes after he came on to the field, when he arrived first to a rebound in the goalmouth and headed home.

The win is a welcome one for Augsburg, who now find themselves five points clear of the relegation zone in 12th place.

Frankfurt also moved clear of the danger zone after a 2-1 victory at home against Bremen.

The visitors took the lead in the 19th minute through Claudio Pizarro, but Alexander Meier struck with a beautiful header from an Aleksandar Ignjovski cross just two minutes later to level the scores, and Stefan Aigner completed the turnaround early in the second half with an easy finish in front of goal.

1. FC Köln were trailing for most of their clash with BVB Dortmund at RheinEnergieStadion, but late goals from Simon Zoller and Anthony Modeste saw them steal a 2-1 win.

Dortmund took the early lead when Sokratis Papastathopoulos rose highest to bury Henrikh Mkhitaryan's cross, and it wasn't until the 82nd minute that Köln equalised when a mistake by Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki gifted Simon Zoller with an opportunity to bury the ball in the back of the net.

Eight minutes later and the hosts took a 90th-minute lead through Anthony Modeste, who latched onto a ball over the top by Frederik Sørensen to smash home the winner.

Thomas Muller's first-half penalty proved the difference as Bayern München ground out a 1-0 victory over Hannover 96 at HDI-Arena.

The visitors claimed the lead five minutes from the half-time break as Muller converted from the penalty spot following an alleged handball in the danger area.

Despite creating a whole host of good chances, Bayern were unable to add to their advantage, thanks to a combination of wasteful finishing and good goalkeeping by Ron-Robert Zieler.
