Borussia MG have confirmed the signing of winger Jonas Hofmann from Bundesliga rivals BVB Dortmund on a four-and-a-half year contract.
The 23-year-old will officially join his new club when the transfer windows reopens at the turn of the year, after a fee believed to be in the region of €8 million was agreed this week.
Gladbach sporting director Max Eberl said; "The addition of Jonas Hofmann will help compensate for the loss of wingers to injury during the second half of the season.
"However, we mainly see this transfer as a long-term improvement of our squad. Jonas has shown in Mainz and Dortmund that he is an outstandingly talented Bundesliga player."
Hofmann, who made his Dortmund debut in 2012, spent last season on loan at Mainz 05 but saw his first-team involvement serious hampered by a serious injury.
He made 10 appearances and scored three goals before returning to his parent club. The Heidelberg-born player has represented Germany at U18 and U21 levels, but has not yet featured for the senior side.
