Neymar would open the scoring in the 60th minute for Barcelona after an excellent through-ball from Sergio Busquets.
Luis Suarez doubled the lead with a well taken penalty after a foul in the box by defender Alphonse Areola. The Uruguayan would then set up fellow striker Neymar in the 85th minute. Meanwhile, Athletic Bilbao hosted Espanyol at Estadio San Mames, where they claimed a 2-1 victory.
The hosts grabbed an early lead via the boot of Inaki Williams who was set up superbly by Oscar de Marcos. The defender pounced on the loose ball and chipped it forward for Williams, who showed great composure to control the ball with his first touch before crashing into the back of the net with his second.
Espanyol would level matters in the 51st minute when Hernan Perez latched onto the end of a delightful cross by Victor Sanchez.
Raul Garcia scored the winner for the home side, heading the ball into the corner with Markel Susaeta getting the assist.
