Table topping Inter Milan earned a narrow win over hosts Torino while defending champions Juventus continued their season's revival in Sunday's Serie A action.
Inter Milan edged Torino 1-0 at the Stadio Olimpico di Torino. Geoffroy Kondogbia found the back of the net for the visitors after he latched on to a loose ball from a free kick that was blocked by the Torino defence.
A traveling Juventus put three goals past Empoli as they earned their second win in a row courtesy of a 3-1 victory. The hosts opened the scoring via Massimo Maccarone in the 16th minute.
However, Empoli found themselves behind after a six minute blitz from the visitors, which saw goals from Maria Mandzukic and Patrice Evra. Juventus controlled the second half well and Paulo Dybala put the icing on the cake with a late goal in the second half.
Edin Dzeko converted from the penalty spot for AS Roma in the tenth minute of their match against visitors Lazio. The visitors would have a couple chances to equalise in the opening stanza, but the Roma defence stood firm.
Roma would then double their lead after a well worked move put Gervinho in space, with the striker then drilling the ball into the bottom right hand corner.
Genoa have Darko Lazovic to thank for their 2-2 draw away to Frosinone. The forward was the architect of both of his side's goals. Leonardo Blanchard and Modibo Diakite each netted for the home side in the opening half.
Alberto Gilardino scored the only goal of the game as Palermo defeated Chievo 1-0 at home. Gilardino was in the right place at the right time as he headed the ball home after the Chievo defenders failed to clear a corner.
Sassuolo edged Carpi 1-0 thanks to a 28th minute goal from Nicola Sansone. The German received a pinpoint pass from Domenico Beradi before his shot bounced off the right post and into the back of the net.
Gonzalo Higuain continued his relentless scoring streak when he helped Napoli to a 1-0 win over Udinese. Higuain was assisted by Jorginho and sent the ball crashing into the bottom right corner on his first touch.
Fiorentina were in fine form when they travelled to Sampdoria for the final Serie A match on Sunday. The visitors earned a well-deserved 0-2 win following a penalty from Josip Ilcic and a second half strike from Nikola Kalinic.
