Sevilla trounce mighty Madrid

Real Madrid lost their first La Liga match of the season when they travelled to Sevilla on Sunday, suffering a 3-2 defeat.

Sergio Ramos struck first for the visitors in the 22nd minute following a teasing corner which he drilled home from close range.

The hosts struck back via Ciro Immobile 12 minutes later and the teams went into halftime level at 1-1.

After the break, Sevilla's Evgen Konoplyanka fooled Real Madrid stopper Kiko Casilla and fed Ever Banega, who tapped the ball into an empty net to take the lead.

Christiano Ronaldo showed all his skill with a fantastic control shot from just inside the box, but it just did not have enough bend and the ball sailed pass the right hand post.

Fernando Llorente would put the final nail in the coffin with a well-placed header late in the second half. While Real Madrid's James Rodriguez scored a stunner from range in the 93rd minute, it was too little too late from Los Blancos.

Meanwhile, Atletico Madrid edged Gijon 1-0 in courtesy of a late goal in the dying embers of the game.

There were few chances throughout the fixture, but Antoine Griezmann provided the winner in the 93 minute.

A long ball was sent up field and Diego Godin headed the ball into the path of Griezmann who was alert to the possible chance and toed the ball past the keeper for a last gasp win, sending the home crowd into raptures.
