Watford will be looking to make it three wins on the trot when they visit a revitalised Sunderland at the Stadium of Light on Saturday.
The Black Cats have looked in much better shape in recent games, winning against Crystal Palace and Stoke City, while they put on a valiant display in the 3-1 defeat to Arsenal at the weekend.
Their recent form saw them move off the foot of the table, but they are still just in 19th position in the standings.
On the team news front, Steven Fletcher (foot) will undergo a late fitness test, while Jermain Defoe and Wes Brown are fit again after their respective hamstring and knee injuries.
However, Lee Cattermole (back) and Sebastian Larsson (knee) remain sidelined.
Watford come into the game off the back of two successive wins, over Aston Villa and Norwich City, and find themselves in 10th in the standings.
They now go in search of a third consecutive win, but will have to do so without the services of Valon Behrami, who is nursing a calf injury.
Sebastian Prodl is back in training after a similar problem, but is not expected to be fit enough to return against the Black Cats.
