Schalke 04 manager Andre Breitenreiter was happy to see his team end the Europa League group stage unbeaten with a 4-0 victory over Asteras Tripoli on Thursday.
Goals from Franco Di Santo, Max Meyer and a brace from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting saw off the Greek side at Stadio Theodoros Kolokotronis as Schalke 04 go through to the next round as Group K winners.
"We're all very happy and proud to have finished the group stage with 14 points – unbeaten at the top of the group," he said. "We went about the task very professionally today and didn't give the opposition a chance.
"The goals were nicely worked and I was especially impressed with my team's positional play. We showed tonight in Tripoli how well-balanced our team is, and how much strength in depth we have.
"We made six changes to the team, which was no compromise on quality. I'm happy about Sidney Sam's comeback. He did his job well and put himself about in the game. Of course, there is still room for improvement, but that's to be expected when you've been out for so long.
"Now we're looking forward to the knock-out games. There's some tough teams in the draw. I don't have any preferences in terms of who I'd like us to face in the Round of 32.
"What is important to me is that we are away for the first leg and can play the deciding leg in front of our own fans in the Arena."
