Reports: Current Real Madrid player to vacate his jersey number so that Paul Pogba can take it

Real Madrid just cannot seem to have enough of chasing Paul Pogba, who has been widely touted for a move away from Manchester United in the past couple of weeks.

While United themselves are not interested in selling their talisman as per various reports, Real Madrid are trying to do everything that they can to attract the attention of the World Champion.

Meanwhile, Diario Gol reports that Real Madrid president Florentino Pérez himself has entered the transfer battlefield, as a last resort for Los Blancos to try and secure the Frenchman’s services.

As per the Spanish news agency, Perez has promised Paul Pogba that he will receive the No.6 shirt, once he signs for the Merengues. The Real Madrid President even went on to add that the Frenchman will have it as part of his contract at the club – reports Diario Gol.

The news agency has also added that Nacho, the current owner of the No.6 shirt, has duly been informed of Perez’ decision. Hence, it is to be understood that the Spaniard will have to let go of his ownership of the number, provided Paul Pogba decides to ply his trade with Real Madrid starting next summer.

The Spanish giants had a relatively poor outing throughout the 2018-19 season, and are already out of the Copa del Rey and the Champions League. Barcelona’s 2-0 win against Alaves in the La Liga on Tuesday meant that Madrid is out of the La Liga title race as well, this season.

Real Madrid need to sign some new players now, provided they want to get strong enough to challenge for domestic and European glory next season.

FOX Sports Asia probability ratings: 3/5; If Paul Pogba signs for Real Madrid, the No.6 shirt will definitely go to him, but the actual chances that the Frenchman may sign for Los Blancos, is relatively low – as of right now, that is. Manchester United are holding on to their star well, at the moment.
