Such has been the effect of Lionel Messi on football, that often those who meet him are reduced to tears; both on and off the pitch. People can’t contain their excitement, as they bask in the presence of one of the greatest players ever to play the game. A similar incident happened recently, only the fan in this case of Romelu Lukaku’s mother!
Manchester United invited Barcelona to Old Trafford for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. It was supposed to be a big day for the Red Devils, with Lionel Messi and Co gracing the iconic stadium with their presence.
Adolphine Lukaku, mother of Manchester United star Romelu Lukaku was also wandering inside Old Trafford when she met Lionel Messi. Upon seeing the Argentine star, she gave him a hug while saying: “Oh, Messi, Messi!”

However, it wasn’t an enjoyable night for Romelu Lukaku himself on the pitch. The Manchester United striker saw his side get beaten by Lionel Messi and Barcelona in the UEFA Champions League quarterfinals. The Catalan club rode home courtesy of an own goal from Luke Shaw, with Lukaku and strike partner both spurning several good chances to score themselves.
They now visit Barcelona on April 16, hoping to overturn a deficit as they did in the previous round.
