Fiorentina midfielder Milan Badelj believes that the Tuscan club are underrated and have what it takes to win the Scudetto this season.
The Viola currently sit top of the Serie A standings, level on 27 points with Inter Milan, while Roma and Napoli remain within touching distance and Juventus trail well behind in 7th.
Having won their last three matches in a row it seems that confidence is high in Florence, and the Croatia international sees no reason why they shouldn't be considered as genuine title contenders.
"Florence is brimming with enthusiasm at this first place in the table," he said. "Someone probably underestimated Fiorentina, seeing as we didn't win anything last season.
"Currently the standings are very tight, but we are a good team and we want to stay up there all the way."
The Viola are back in league action at home to Empoli next Sunday before travelling to Switzerland to face FC Basel in the Europa League later that week.
In the meantime, Badelj has been called up by his country, alongside fellow Italy-based players Ivan Perisic, Marcelo Brozovic, Mario Mandzukic and Nikola Kalinic for the friendly match against Russia on Friday.
