It was a lost battle against the strongest being in the Universe, Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, who erased half of the world with a snap — Decimation. However, one of Marvel’s greatest supervillains is not just confined to the Marvel comic and cinematic universe. Now that Fortnite x Avengers Endgame crossover is announced, let’s take a look at other games that included the Mad Titan over the years.
Several video games featured Thanos in their gameplay, either as a character or as a mode. The one thing that remained common throughout his several appearances in the popular video games was the strength with which he was displayed. While the iconic Infinity gauntlet is his main weapon in some of the games, the other rely on his comic book gimmick which wants to kill people with an intention to win over Lady Death.
Irrespective of his portrayal, the gaming Universe has always been in awe of Thanos and here we have enlisted five games in which he was lauded with the power to be one of the best villains you could hope to fight against.
The popular Battle Royale game Fortnite was quick to the gaming community by storm ever since its release in 2017 and even generated $2.4 billion revenue by 2018. The game received mixed reactions and was the epitome of the phrase, “Love it or hate it but you cannot ignore it”.
Last year, after the release of Avengers: Infinity War, Epic Games introduced “Infinity Gauntlet Limited Time Mashup” event in the game. The gameplay of this event remained the same with 100 odd players trying o be the last survivor. But the additional effect was the inclusion of Infinity War gauntlet, which was hidden somewhere in the map.
Any player who could get his hands on this weapon of mass destruction (50Z% to be precise) would then become the strongest character in the battlefield and could win easily. Despite the fact that this event was included only for a time being, it was immensely popular amongst the Fortnite fans.
The reports now suggest that Fortnite could bring back Thanos and Avengers back in the game after the release of Avengers Endgame and based on the previous crossover, we can say it would indeed be Epic. *Pardon the Pun*. The players will be introduced to the Fortnite x Avengers crossover on May 25, 2019.
In June 2018, it was announced that Thanos will be seen in GTA Five. To say that his arrival created havoc in the GTA gaming scene would be an understatement. It is important to note that just like Fortnite Avengers and Ghost Rider have already been a part of this game. Although the inclusion of a Marvel character in Grand Theft Auto was not news, this was the first time they had included a supervillain.
In this mod, the players could use the different infinity stones for different purposes. The Power stone played by its name and it could help the players smash the ground and release Power shoots. Along with the Space stone, the Power stone allowed the players to throw meteors at anything they want. The players could also create portals and black holes using the Space stone.
The players could also slow down the time using the Time stone as well steal the souls of the common folk using the Soul stone. The infinity gauntlet also allowed the beholders to wipe out half the population in the world.
Marvel Future Fight
Introduced as Mad Titan in the second wave of World Bosses, Thanos became the part of Marvel Future Fight after the v2.1.0 update. He is described in the game as “The Mad Titan Thanos, a melancholy, brooding entity consumed with the concept of death, sought out personal power and increased strength, endowing himself with cybernetic implants until he became one of the most powerful beings in the Marvel Universe”.
His character boasts of several powers including, Cosmic Shift, Titan Punch, Titan Beam, Cosmic Rain and Cosmic Drop which can be achieved on different levels as you progressed in the game, winning more fights.
Marvel Super Heroes
Thanos appeared in Marvel Super Heroes as the final boss of the game who had numerous attacks surrounding the different infinity stones. This surprisingly super agile version of Thanos could land super powerful attacks on the heroes but his greatest strength lied in the attacks revolving around the stone which could completely destroy your character.
Similar to the Infinity Gauntlet storyline, Thanos aimed at collecting all the stones to become the most powerful being in the Universe and the superhero characters would bet their respective stones in their fights.
Marvel VS. Capcom Infinite
In this game, Thanos was no longer the main villain in the storyline and players could select him as their opponent in the initial levels of the game as well. However, being able to resist heat, cold, radiation, electricity, ageing and toxins gave him an upper hand in most of the cases.
Thanos’ hyper moves in the game can be performed by precise combos resulting in them being deadly for a Tier-1 supervillain. This version of him did not possess any of the Infinity stones but his special moves like Titan Crush or Titan’s Deceit still made it tough to win the battles against him.
