WATCH: South Africa opener acrobatically escapes being hit from the ball at non-striker’s end

Along with the India vs Sri Lanka encounter in the Cricket World Cup 2019, Australia vs South Africa is currently underway in Manchester. After opting to bat first, South Africa have had a great start.

Their openers, Quinton de Kock and Aiden Markram added 79 runs for the first wicket, which has sent them on the way to a big first innings total. But there was one episode which caught everyone’s eyes.

In the seventh over, with the openers going all guns blazing, De Kock drove a Pat Cummins delivery straight back towards the bowling end. Markram, stationed at the non-striker end, had to make a miraculous escape to avoid the ball crashing into him.

South Africa are 245 for 2 after 40 overs at the time of writing.
