Ottis Gibson will stay on England’s bowling coach until the end of the upcoming Test series against the West Indies before being unveiled as South Africa’s head coach, according to a report on ESPNCricinfo.
Former West Indies seamer Gibson is contracted with the ECB until the end of the 2018 season but it has been reported that Cricket South Africa (CSA) and the ECB have agreed a compensation package.
Gibson will stay with the England side for their three-match series against the Windies at home, with the final Test starting on 7 September, but could be named as the Proteas' new coach in the next week.
South Africa host Bangladesh in a two-match series starting on 28 September with Gibson expected to be the man in charge, taking over from Russell Domingo, for what will be a busy home summer for the Proteas.
India and Australia are also set to tour South Africa over the next seven months, with the Aussies starting a Test series in March while the dates and fixtures for the India series have not been confirmed as yet.
