India all-rounder Hardik Pandya will be out of action for at least six weeks after suffering a hairline fracture in his right shoulder.
Pandya was struck on the shoulder during a net session in Mohali and was subsequently released from India's Test squad.
The BCCI have yet to name a replacement for Pandya and it is unclear if the all-rounder will be fit to return for the ODI series against England that gets underway on January 15.
Pandya was yet to earn a Test cap for India and his call-up to the Test squad was his first although he has featured in limited overs cricket for India.
The all-rounder had a solid ODI series against New Zealand, showing promise as a potential finisher and also impressed on India A's tour to Australia earlier this year.
The 23-year-old has played four ODIs and sixteen T20Is for India.
