Fast bowler Dushmantha Chameera has been sidelined from Sri Lanka’s ongoing Test series against England due to a lower-back injury.
Chameera, who has been advised rest for up to four months, will likely miss July and August’s series against Australia as well.
The 24-year-old right-armer took three wickets in the series opener at Headingley in Leeds, where the hosts romped to an innings and 88-run triumph inside three days.
The tourists have not yet named a replacement. Wicketkeeper-batsman Kusal Perera, meanwhile, has been called up to replace seamer Dhammika Prasad. Prasad sustained a tour-ending shoulder injury prior to the first Test.
The second Test will get underway at Chester-le-Street on Thursday. Lord’s in London will host the third and final Test. Five ODIs and a solitary T20I will follow.
