Former England coach Peter Moores is the front runner to get the vacant head coach position of Pakistan, according to a source at in the Pakistan Cricket Board.
Moores was sacked as England coach after overseeing a disastrous World Cup campaign last year, with the Three Lions being knocked out after the first round.
It was Moores' second stint as England coach after he was given the role in 2007-2008 only to be let go in 2009.
Although the source confirmed that former Pakistan Test players have also applied for the job, Moores' past coaching experiences might give him the edge for the job.
The PCB source said: "Moores is a front runner for the job as he has in the past also interacted with the PCB and had given an impressive report on how to improve the cricket structure."
The PCB are searching for a coach after Waqar Younis resigned after the recent World T20 in India where Pakistan only won one game in the tournament.
