India leveled the three-match T20 International series against Sri Lanka when they beat the visitors by 69 runs in the second game in Ranchi on Friday.
The home team batted first, after being sent in by visiting captain Dinesh Chandimal, and put on a formidable total of 196 for six in their allotted 20 overs.
The big score was set up by openers Rohit Sharma (43) and Shikhar Dhawan (51), who put on 75 within the first seven overs of the innings.
The innings was given a late boost by Suresh Raina (30 off 19 balls) and Hardik Pandya (27 from 12 balls) as India bounced back strongly from the defeat on Tuesday.
Sri Lanka were in early trouble in the chase as they lost Tillakaratne Dilshan with the first ball of innings and then fellow opening batsman Seekkuge Prasanna with the first ball of the second over.
The tourists never recovered from those early setbacks and limped to 127 for nine in 20 overs with India offspinner Ravi Ashwin claiming three for 14 from his four overs.
The series decider will take place on Sunday in Visakhapatnam.
