English county side Essex have signed Pakistan's left-arm fast bowler Wahab Riaz for seven matches in the T20 Blast this year.
The 30-year-old Wahab, who has had previous spells in English domestic cricket with Kent and Surrey, will replaced by New Zealand paceman Adam Milne for the second half of the competition.
Wahab has an outstanding record in T20 cricket, having taken 117 wickets in 103 games at an average of 21.77.
Essex coach Chris Silverwood said: "We are pleased to have Wahab joining the squad for the first half of the NatWest T20 Blast season. He will add a different dimension to our bowling attack, being a left-armer and bowling with real pace.
"We are looking at this competition with confidence. We need to improve our performance from the past few seasons, and drive our limited-overs cricket forward. Wahab's signing helps us with this."
The Chelmsford-based county reached the quarterfinals of the T20 Blast last season.
