Ataides was expected to be one step closer to that dream after his fight with ONE FC debutant Igor Svirid at Battle of Lions, but the Russian fighter caused a massive upset when he TKO'ed the Brazilian in the first round.
Ataides said: "I never lost a fight before but I really wanted to knock him out and I just made one mistake because I was too impatient and then the fight was over. It was a very big disappointment because becoming ONE FC champion is my dream but that dream is not over, I will beat whoever it takes to get another shot at the belt. I want a rematch.
"The Muay Thai trainers at Evolve MMA are all champions from Thailand who have had 200 or 300 fights and they said to me 'take your time and use your technique, do not rush' but because I wanted to win the belt so badly I tried to go for the knockout too soon."
He added: "I am a Jiu Jitsu world champion and a second-degree Jiu Jitsu black belt and before I joined Evolve MMA no-one talked about my striking. Since working with the Muay Thai trainers there and the boxing trainers there I have started knocking people out but Jiu Jitsu is still my biggest strength, it is going to be very difficult for anyone in this division if they go on the ground with me.
"I improve every day and want ONE FC fans to know I will be back and I will be even better."
