Maia outclasses LeFlare

Turning out for the first time after 10 months on the sidelines due to a shoulder injury, Maia showed his Jiu-Jitsu skills in a fight that all three judges scored 48-46 in his favour.

Maia was able to take LeFlare down with relative ease during the first four rounds, with LeFlare making some impact with his strikes but failing to find a way to combat Maia on the ground.

LeFlare was able to stay in the fight though, and knowing he was behind heading into the final round he attacked strongly and was close to finding an opening against a tiring Maia.

However, Maia was able to execute another takedown and gain control for the remainder of the fight, although he did incur the wrath of referee John McCarthy for stalling shortly before the bell.
