UFC president Dana White is targeting a summer showdown between Conor McGregor and top lightweight contender Tony Ferguson.
McGregor has not fought in the UFC since November 2016 and after the Irishman banked around $100million from his boxing match against Floyd Mayweather last summer, there have been major question marks about whether he will compete in MMA again.
Ferguson is eager to face lightweight title holder McGregor after winning the interim championship.
And that is the bout that White is looking to book, albeit he hasn’t even begun negotiations with McGregor’s camp yet.

“What we have to do is, he needs to defend that title,” said White.
“Tony Ferguson is the fight right now and is the move if [McGregor] wants to come back.
“There’s two different sides to this coin. There’s only so many trips you can go on and there’s only so much stuff you can buy before you start to get bored and you want to get back in the game.”
