T.J. Dillashaw pulled off a sensational win against bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt at UFC 217 in New York on Saturday, winning by KO after 2:41 of the second round.
The win saw Dillashaw retain the belt he lost to Dominic Cruz in January 2016.
The first round was an even affair with Dillashaw attempting to catch Garbrandt with kicks, while staying wary of the champion’s lightning fast attacks.
But Garbrandt still managed to floor Dillashaw, catching him with a big punch just before the bell that left him wobbling as he went back to his corner.

The roles were reversed in the second round as Dillashaw’s strategy paid off, the challenger catching Garbrandt with a huge kick to the head that visibly dazed him.
A few seconds later it was all over as Dillashaw dropped his opponent with a right hand and then jumped on top of him to finish him off.
Dillashaw then called out flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson, who he wanted to fight earlier this year. Johnson declined that fight in favour of another matchup.
