UFC flyweight Paige VanZant has withdrawn from her fight against Jessica Eye at UFC 216 scheduled for October 7 in Las Vegas citing an injury.
Reports said that VanZant suffered a back injury during training and has been advised to avoid training for a few weeks.
Officials confirmed the cancellation of the fight on Monday and said a replacement opponent would not be sought.
VanZant (7-3) has not fought so far in 2017. Last time out she suffered a first-round submission loss to Michelle Waterson at UFC Fight Night in Sacramento.
The 23-year-old has fought in the 115-pound strawweight division in the UFC, but was moving up to the UFC’s newly created 125-pound weight class.
Paige VanZant vs. Jessica Eye has been scrapped from UFC 216. It's possible the fight gets rebooked for a later date but nothing set yet.

Eye (11-6) has not fought since Sept 2016. She was scheduled to fight at UFC 213 in July but the bout was cancelled after opponent Aspen Ladd fell ill.
The interim lightweight title fight between Tony Ferguson and Kevin Lee will now headline UFC 216 at the T-Mobile Arena.
