Flyweight Sergio Pettis outclassed Mexico's Brandon Moreno via a unanimous decision in the main event at UFC Fight Night 114 in Mexico City on Saturday night.
All the judges awarded the fight to No.6 ranked Pettis with the scorecards reading 49-46, 48-46, and 48-46.
In the opening round, No.7 ranked Moreno dominated and caught a kick to put Pettis on his back and tried to sink in a rear-naked choke but Pettis was able to avoid a submission.
Things changed after that as Pettis started to take over the fight in the second round. He landed two high kicks in the round and then quickly applied a triangle choke but Moreno was able to escape the submission attempt.
The third round was all Pettis as he picked his opponent apart landing power punches and continued in the fourth round by out striking Moreno.
Moreno secured a takedown early in the final frame but despite having the top position for half the round could not inflict damage.
Pettis managed to get back to his feet and took the fight back to his opponent landing shots and dominating.
In the end, after an exciting battle between the two 23-year-olds, the judge's scorecards awarded the bout 49-46, 48-46, and 48-46 to Pettis.

Following his unanimous win, Pettis said hehe had to adjust to Moreno's open style but was happy with the result.
"I definitely had to face some adversity. He came out there and put me in a very dangerous situation. I stayed calm. I had four more rounds to prove that I'm better than this man," said Pettis.
"His stand up surprised me a lot. He gave me a different look, kind of made me almost question my look. It's just an open style that I had to adjust to," he added.
