White: Bisping v GSP on again

UFC middleweight champion Michael Bisping’s on-off fight against legend Georges St Pierre is back on again, according to several reports.

President of the MMA promotion Dana White, who recently said the fight was off, reportedly had a change of heart following Tyron Woodley’s underwhelming performance against Damian Maia at UFC 214 in California on Saturday night.

Last week, White had said the winner of the Woodley-Maia fight would take on GSP at UFC 217 – scheduled for Madison Square Gardens on November 4.

Now, White reportedly said that he would prefer to give Bisping the stage , because he can rely on the Brit to perform.

“Yup! There you go,” White said. “Because I know Michael Bisping will fight. Michael Bisping will show up and actually fight.”

The change of heart came after Saturday’s disappointing bout, during which the crowd did the Mexican wave, waved cell phones lights, and chanted “this is boring” in the fifth round.

“Listen, when you break a record for the least number of punches thrown in a five-round fight, when you beat it and it was like 130 and these guys threw 60 or something like that, that sums it up,” White said later.

“If you get booed out of the arena, that’s not good,” White added later. “That’s not how you make your money. If people don’t want to watch you, that’s a bad sign.”
