Yes folks, you read that correctly…UFC start Stipe Miocic is eager to fight current world boxing champion Anthony Joshua as a prelude to the Floyd Mayweather v Conor McGregor spectacle.
On paper, the idea makes as much sense as the Mayweather v McGregor bout, so why not throw it on the undercard.
Both Miocic and Joshua are supreme athletes and are at the top of their respective sports; Miocic is the reigning UFC heavyweight champion while Joshua is the IBF, WBA, and IBO heavyweight boxing champion.
Miocic first floated the idea on twitter, calling out the big Brit, though he did not respond…

But Joshua would react to a news post on instagram, letting Miocic know exactly what he thinks…

It took him a few days, but Miocic responded with a scathing tweet…
. @anthonyfjoshua "This guy" is the universally recognized as the baddest man on the planet. You aren't even the baddest man in the UK.

At the moment, thankfully, there is nothing to suggest this fight has any legs whatsoever and we hope it stays that way.
The sporting universe can only handle one crossover-sport-megafight-hype-train at time.
