Conor McGregor had some par-for-the-course outrageous statements during a media frenzy in New York on Friday.
The Irishman was in the Big Apple to watch fellow countryman and boxer Michael Conlan make his pro-fight debut at Madison Square Garden.
Following Conlon's TKO win, McGregor addressed the media swarm and among them was ESPN boxing writer Dan Rafael, who he asked if he was the boxing guy, which he confirmed.
"I'm the boxing guy," the UFC lightweight champion retorted.
"Watch me take over boxing, trust me on that. No one in this boxing game knows what's coming. Trust me on that. I'm going to step in there and shock the whole goddamn world. Trust me on that.
"Look me in the eyes, 28 years of age, confident as a motherf—er, long, rangy, dangerous with every hand. Trust me, I'm going to stop Floyd and you're all going to eat your words. The whole world is going to eat their words."
McGregor yelled out a defiant "I am boxing!" before leaving the crowd.
The mega-fight, which once just seemed a dream, is gaining momentum as the world is waiting for a date to be set.
