Tony Ferguson and Khabib Nurmagomedov got involved in a verbal sparring match during a recent conference call.
The pair were on the phone to promote UFC 209, where they will face off in the main event alongside Tyron Woodley and Stephen Thompson in Las Vegas on the 4th of March.
The first real shot was fired when Ferguson criticised the Russian weight.
“You’re fat, dude,” said the Californian.
“You’ll never make weight, and your conditioning sucks.”
A calm Nurmagomedov responded: “I’ll show you my spirit on Saturday.”
Quick to retort, Ferguson went on another rant
“I’m going to break your spirit,” he added.
“Your hat is covering your ears – you’re not listening to me. (Expletive) you, Khabib. You didn’t do nothing. I’m the matador. You’ve got 1.9 million people that are going to be sad as (expletive) when I finish your ass.
“There’s nobody running from this fight. Dude, you’re a punk. You’re a (expletive) bully, just like everybody else at AKA. Nobody’s running but Conor (McGregor).”
Nurmagomedov, who is unbeaten after 24 fights, continued the to and fro…
“I want to break your face, I want to break your heart,” quipped the 28-year-old.
