UFC Fight Night 104 Result: Andrade defeats Hill

The main card of UFC Fight Night in Houston, Texas got off to a great start with an exciting matchup between two rising stars in the strawweight division.

No. 5-ranked Jessica Andrade is on her way to the top of the division but standing in her way in the 115-pound Invicta FC champion Angela Hill. Hill is making her return to the UFC following her time on The Ultimate Fighter, and then fighting for Invicta FC. These two ladies were ready to bring the heat to Texas.

Round One

Straight out of the gate Hill stays to the outside, choosing not to touch gloves with Andrade. They both take a few moments to feel the other out before stepping in to exchange. Hill is the first to make contact as she lands a few kicks and punches to the body of Andrade. Andrade rallies toward Hill with some big punches and gets her up against the fence. Hill with some good kicks and knees, but it is Andrade that has the power and keeps trapping Hill against the fence. They make it to the second after some great exchanges in the first.

Round Two

Hill continues to stay away at the beginning of the second round. The two fighters get into a close exchange, where they both land some good punches. Hill is quick to get out of it and continues to stay on the outside. Andrade grabs ahold of Hill’s leg and gets her to the ground. Andrade gets to the back of Hill and looks for a rear-naked choke. Hill is able to get back to her feet before Andrdade picks up Hill and slams her back to the ground with 20 seconds left in the round.

Round Three

Both of these ladies came out swinging in the opening minute of round three.  A huge right landed by Andrade shakes Hill.  Andrade continues to punish Hill but Hill continues to take the damage. Hill does a great job of staying out of the way of Andrade’s heavy hands.  Andrade slips and hits the ground but is quick to return to her feet.  The round ends with both fighters looking for that last minute KO.


The fight goes to the judge’s decision. All three of the judges score the fight 30-27 for Andrade who wins by unanimous decision. Mutual respect is exchanged by both fighters. This fight is an early Fight of the Night contender.
