Cormier ready for Johnson challenge

UFC light heavyweight champion Daniel Cormier has insisted that he is ready to take on Anthony Johnson at UFC 210 in April.

The duo were supposed to meet at UFC 206 in December last year, but Cormier was forced to withdraw from the bout after tearing his adductor tendon.

Johnson is known for his power and striking ability as his last three victories have all come via knockout through punches. As a result, Cormier revealed that he will fight fire with fire when he goes up against Johnson on April 8.

“I get to go in there and fold up Rumble Johnson like a nice load of laundry,” he said on UFC Tonight. “No wrestling. I’m standing up with Rumble Johnson. You say you’re going to knock me – prove it to me on April 8th. I’ll be waiting for you. I’m going to stand with this dude. What’s the worst that can happen?”

Cormier is currently on a three-fight winning streak, with his latest victory coming against Anderson Silva via unanimous decision at UFC 200 in July last year.

As for Johnson, he has also won his last three fights, and was highly impressive in his most recent bout with Glover Teixeira at UFC 202 in August 2016 as he won the fight in just 13 seconds.
