Holm to face De Randamie for inaugural women’s featherweight title

Holly Holm will have an opportunity to become a UFC champion once again as she takes on Germaine de Randamie in the first-ever women’s featherweight title fight at UFC 208 in Brooklyn on February 11.

Holm used to be the UFC women’s bantamweight champion, but lost the title to Miesha Tate at UFC 196 in March. Following that she suffered a shock unanimous decision loss to Valentina Shevchenko at UFC on FOX 20 in July.

Having lost her last two fights, Holm will be determined to snap her losing streak and capture her first title since she stunned Ronda Rousey to become the bantamweight champion at UFC 193 in November last year.

As for De Randamie, she is on a two-fight winning streak, with both her victories having come via TKO.

It is understood that the winner of the fight will put the new title on the line against Cris "Cyborg" Justino, who is widely regarded as the best women’s featherweight fighter.

Justino had been offered the opportunity to compete at UFC 208, but turned it down as she is still recovering from a tough weight cut to make 140 pounds for her most recent fight against Lina Lansberg, who she defeated via TKO in the second round at UFC Fight Night 95 in September.
