Werdum claimed a surprise victory over Cain Velasquez at UFC 188 to take the title, and questions have now shifted to who he may face next.
Speaking at a Periscope Q&A session, White said that Junior dos Santos would have been the number one challenger, but his injury troubles have ruled him out of contention, whittling the field down to two.
“It’s either going to be Stipe or Arlovski,” White said. “Dos Santos should get that fight, I agree. Dos Santos should get that fight, but he’s hurt. So he can’t take it.”
Arlovski, who is unbeaten in his last six fights, beat Werdum at UFC 70 back in April 2007. Miocic bounced back from defeat to Dos Santos last December to beat Mark Hunt last month.
