A bantamweight title fight between Dominick Cruz and Cody Garbrandt has been confirmed as part of the UFC 207 fight card.
Cruz will make the second defence of his second 135-pound title reign when he faces unbeaten Garbrandt on December 30 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Garbrandt, who is believed by many to be one of a handful of fighters that will take the UFC forward in the coming years, has had his sights set on Cruz for a while now.
In August during a post-fight interview after his 48-second knockout of Takeya Mizugaki at UFC 202, Garbrandt called out Cruz.
"I'm gonna break your jaw," Garbrandt shouted to Cruz from the octagon.
“I'm gonna show you who your daddy is for real."
Cruz, who was working as a television analyst, reacted by pumping his fists and motioning his hands for Garbrandt.
There will certainly be a bit of bite to this one.
The UFC 207 card was a sparkling one before this fight was added to it. After this news, it really does promise to be a spectacular evening of entertaining.
The card is headlined by a women's bantamweight title bout between Amanda Nunes and former champion Ronda Rousey, who returns to the Octagon for the first time in 13 months.
It also features a rematch between former heavyweight champions Fabricio Werdum and Cain Velasquez, along with a welterweight bout between former champion Johny Hendricks and Neil Magny.
