The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) has announced that they will hold a hearing on the “extension of temporary suspension” for Jon Jones on Monday.
Jones was pulled from his light heavyweight unification bout against Daniel Cormier at UFC 200 last weekend after testing positive for a banned substance.
His “B” sample also tested positive, and the 28-year-old could now be looking at a two-year suspension as he is a first-time offender.
Jones vehemently denied taking any performance-enhancing drugs in an emotional speech, but admitted that he had introduced “a few things” to his body while preparing for his fight with Cormier, but insisted that it had “nothing to do with performance”.
It remains unclear what the future holds for Jones, but even if he is banned for two years, the former light heavyweight champions has said that he will return to the Octagon once his suspension is lifted.
