Nunes beats Tate to become champion

Brazilian Amanda Nunes became the new women’s bantamweight champion at UFC 200 when she defeated Misha Tate in the first round with a rear naked choke on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

In a major shock, number four contender Nunes simply never allowed Tate to settle or get into the bout catching the champion with a number of strikes before forcing her to tap at 3:16 in the opening round.

The bantamweight weight division has seen three new champions since November 2015 with some stunning upsets.

Holly Holm knocked out Ronda Rousey in Australia at UFC 193 then in March lost the title after being defeated by Tate via a choke in the fifth round.

And on Saturday night, Nunes caused another upset.
