Aldo: I will run over McGregor

UFC featherweight champion Jose Aldo says that when he eventually faces interim title holder Conor McGregor, the Irishman won't know what hit him.

The two were scheduled to meet at UFC 189 in Las Vegas on July 11 but Aldo was forced to pull out prior to the bout with a rib injury.

In a chat with FOX Sports, Aldo said that he make the right decision not to fight McGregor ahead of UFC 189.

"It was very difficult. It was a very important fight. There were many things involved," Aldo stated.

"There were some days I would wake up saying, 'I'm going to do it.' Then there were some days I would wake up saying, 'I'm not going to do it.'

"It was a very important decision, but I think I took the right decision. Not really (upset at backlash). People can say whatever they want.

“When I'm not fighting, I don't really pay attention to what people are saying. It's just something I ignore."

Aldo said that he was not surprised by the outcome of the fight against his replacement Chad Mendes, but added that McGregor would not know what hit him when they finally meet.

"When I'm with him inside the cage, I'm going to run him over," Aldo said.

"He's not even going to see what went over him."
