Glover Teixeira returned to winning ways with an impressive submission victory over Ovince Saint Preux in the UFC Fight Night 73 main event in Nashville on Saturday.
The Brazilian entered the fight on the back of defeats to Jon Jones and Phil Davis, and looked to be headed for his third consecutive loss after suffering some early damage from Saint Preux.
Saint Preux found the target with a barrage of strikes in the opening round. However, Teixeira hung in there and made his move in the third round to improve his record to 23-4.
The former light-heavyweight title challenger took Saint Preux to the ground, asserted his dominance and sunk in a rear-naked choke.
However, Saint Preux was in no mood to tap out in from of his home crowd and instead the fight was stopped at 3:10 in the third round when the University of Tennessee graduate and Knoxville resident went cold.
