UFC welterweight champion Robbie Lawler and top contender Tyron Woodley could face each other in the main event at UFC 201 in Atlanta on July 30.
Though nothing has officially been confirmed, media reports suggest that a verbal agreement has been reached by both parties.
In April, UFC president Dana White confirmed that Lawler would defend his belt against Woodley at UFC 201 or UFC 202.
Champion Lawler (27-10, 1 NC) has looked very good in the octagon of late, winning his last five fights. He was last in action at UFC 195 in January, where he defeated Carlos Condit by a split decision.
Woodley (15-3) has won four of his last five fights and was last in action at UFC 183 in January 2015, where he won a split decision against Kelvin Gastelum in Las Vegas.
He was scheduled to fight Johny Hendricks in October at UFC 192 but the fight never happened as Hendricks failed to make the weight.
