Australia’s Mark Hunt knocked out two-time UFC Heavyweight champion Frank Mir in the first round of the main event of UFC Fight Night 85 at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre on Sunday.
After a slow start, the 41-year-old Hunt landed a right hand to the head of Mir ending the fight with one minute and 59 seconds remaining in the opening round, handing Mir his ninth knockout in the UFC.
It was the first scoring punch that the Australian had thrown in the bout.

With the win, ninth-ranked Hunt moves to 12-10-1 and the tenth-ranked Mir, 36, falls to 18-11.
In other main undercard results, ninth-ranked welterweight Neil Magny defeated Hector Lombard in the third round via a technical knockout.
Lightweight Jake Matthews forced a choke submission against American Johnny Case in the third round.
Melbourne middleweight Daniel Kelly stopped Brazilian Antonio Carlos Junior in the third round via a technical knockout in the final round.
