McGregor vs Diaz rematch being lined up for UFC 200

A rematch between Conor McGregor and Nate Diaz could soon be announced as the main event for UFC 200.

Multiple sources are reporting that the UFC is close to finalizing a non-title welterweight rematch between the two fighters.

Earlier this month, Diaz sensationally beat McGregor via a second-round rear-naked choke in the main event of UFC 196.

The fight was arranged on short notice after Rafael dos Anjos withdrew from his match-up with McGregor due to a foot injury.

And while it certainly didn’t go to plan for McGregor, the fight was a hugely successful one for the UFC, both in terms of gate receipts and pay-per-view buys.

The UFC inititally seemed to favour Frankie Edgar or Jose Aldo for McGregor next, but the Irishman and his team appear to be more interested in settling a score with Diaz.

While the fight would certainly draw huge interest, at least one person isn’t very happy about it.

Brazilian Dos Anjos called out both fighters on Twitter shortly after the reports surfaced.

Dos Anjos was all set to face McGregor before a broken foot ruled him out, and has previously beaten Diaz, so his confidence is understandable.

He might now find himself fighting on the undercard of McGregor v Diaz 2 at UFC 200.
