Ahead of his UFC Fight Night 84 clash with Anderson Silva, Michael Bisping has stated that he is fighting for far more than just self-gratification.
The 36-year-old British fighter will do battle in front of his home crowd on Saturday at the 02 Arena.
After showcasing his dynamic variations of kicks and punches on the pads during his public workout in front of a gawking crowd on Oxford Street, Bisping revealed the importance of the bout.
“When I’m walking out there, I’m obviously representing myself, representing my family but I’m also representing Great Britain,” Bisping said.
“I’m going to prove we can perform on a world stage in mixed martial arts. We ruled the world at one point with great boxing world champions and it’s only a matter of time before we have a UFC champion.
“I will be fighting my heart out this Saturday and the best version of myself will be on display and there will be no quit. I will fight with every ounce of heart and soul that I have.”
When Silva was asked what fans could expect from him on Saturday night his answer was far more pertinent than his opponent’s.
“Victory, victory,” the Brazilian gloated.
