Conor McGregor has reacted with anger to Nate Diaz’s accusations that he is on steroids.
As expected there were a few fireworks when the pair faced the press on Wednesday to discuss their upcoming fight at UFC 196, with Diaz having been called in as a late replacement for the injured Rafael dos Anjos.
The two fighters have been involved in a long-running battle of words, and Wednesday was no different, with Diaz accusing McGregor of breaking the rules on his path to superstardom.
“Everybody is on steroids, the whole UFC. Everybody,” Diaz asserted.
An angered McGrgegor responded: “I’m not on steroids. What the (expletive) are you talking about? … I’m just an animal. I wake up. I work. I eat. And I sleep.”
McGregor is moving up to the welterweight division for the fight, having previously fought in the featherweight division at 145 pounds. However, the Irishman is not concerned about moving up to 170 pounds.
“The only weight I care about is my cheques, and the weight of my cheques are super heavy,” he said.
