The UFC debut of Phil Brooks, better known as WWE wrestler ‘CM Punk’, has been delayed once again.
MMAFighting.com reported that Punk will undergo surgery to correct a herniated disc.
His recovery is expected to take four to six months.
“My back has always bugged me,” Punk said. “Figured it was just wrestling (expletive). Turns out it was.
“It got bad enough to the point where I couldn’t do anything the week before I went to train with the New Jersey Devils last month. One day I could manage. The next day I couldn’t. I’ve been in agony for almost a month. Chiropractor, acupuncture, massage, cryotherapy – nothing worked.”
The news couldn’t have come at a worse time for Punk, who looked set to finally make his UFC debut against Mickey Gall, possibly at UFC 199 or UFC 200.
The latest setback means the former wrestler will once again have to re-evaluate his plans.
